WHAT'S GOOD BEFORE AN MBA?

If You Know You'll Get an MBA it could make sense to get a degree in the sciences or humanities first says Geoff Gloeckler.  Even if you missed out on a liberal arts education at the undergraduate level you can still take some humanities and economics at the graduate level as well. Some extra months taking extra courses could also be considered good continuing education.  It is never too late to catch up. You may never want to forsake attending the self-taught university in your very own study.  However, getting tested proves competency.

OUT OF RETIREMENT

I suspect that many people expect to go on working if they can. I hear it from my children’s generation. “I don’t plan to retire,” they say. “Besides, Social Security will be such a pittance by then, I won’t be able to,” Yet pride is there, too, the can-do- entrepreneurial spirit. Personally, though, what the stock market slump does is wake me up to the false consciousness that work in the great thing I wanted to do in my sunset years. To me this is macho nonsense. There are better ways than work to deny death. Moreover, since I do not work I cannot make up for my savings shortfall.

THE AGING MIND - BUT CAN YOU STILL.....

The biological process of ageing of course gets in the way of our development in retirement age. As people get older their productivity declines but their knowledge base is great. Older folks may lack speed and agility but they got invaluable experience. Just to think of some 80-90-year olds at the helm of some great companies is an example.

QUESTIONS AS POWERFUL STABILIZERS

Research shows that the most powerful way to learn new information is to convert it into Questions and Answers. 

A DIFFERENT MOTIVATION!

Human beings are complex individuals. As such, it is impossible to find one work/body/brain function that fits all.

A CHILD DROWNS IN SWIMMING POOL

Just two weeks ago I published swimming away as the best sport on planet earth. In that essay I cautioned that kids attract to water and as such it is important that they are able to swim. I also saluted UNICEF for having Learn-to-Swim programs for children in some developing countries to save kids from drowning. It was sad to hear on May 3, 2006, that former Senate Majority Leader Howard Baker had to cut short a vacation from UK and return to the USA because his his 7-year old grandchild had drowned in the family swimming pool. Of course, hundreds of similar sad incidents go unreported on TV and major newspapers when it happens to ordinary people.

Houses with outdoor swimming pool should fence and gate the pool area so that no child is able to enter unless an adult opens the gate and stays there all the time when kids are in the pool. Of course, they should also be closely supervised in other places of water recreation.

IN THE NAME OF GOD YOU ARE HEALED

There are a number of crooks abound the world over, who even portray to perform miracles on TV. Everything that these crooks do is staged to dupe the attending public and TV watchers.  These preachers doing the work of God live in great luxury and own dozens of expensive cars while their sheep live moderately or in poverty after donating their monies to these fake scoundrels.  Sometimes, it is astonishing why governments do not go after these crooks. The greatest challenge posed to these wolves in sheep clothing is to visit hospitals and perform miracles. There are also other con artists who fleece you in with God's prayers.

YAHOO TECH

Yahoo has a good tech site dubbed Yahoo Tech which provides information on gadgetry. The site is being launched in the US only, but there are plans to adapt it for major international markets.
